'Tis The Season to LOVE

A group of 4-to-8 year-olds were asked the question, "What does love mean?" As usual with children, the answers often offer wisdom. Bobby – age 7 – said this, “Love is what's in the room with you at Christmas if you stop opening presents and listen.”

Wow, this was part of my devotion this week. It really struck something in me. It seems Christmas creeps up on me every year and I seem to try to keep up with all the activities. With all my events, parties and charity work nothing matters more to me than loving my family.

So, as you head out today to do your last minute Christmas shopping here are some tips to make it easier.
1. Always make it personal and think of something they would not normally buy.
2. Make a budget and stay on it!
3. Keep it simple, quality vs. quantity.
4. Shop local to support your community.
5. Wrap it pretty! They will be so excited to open it.

The best gift you could ever give is your undivided attention. Be in the moment when you are with your friends and family, you just might learn something new.

This Christmas, as 7-year-old Bobby said love is in the room. Take time to push aside the hustle and bustle of the season to listen closely. For the greatest gift was given in Bethlehem. “I bring you good news that will bring great joy to all people. The Savior – yes, the Messiah, the Lord – has been born today in Bethlehem, the city of David!” (Luke 2:10-12)

Merry Christmas,
