'Tis The Season to LOVE

A group of 4-to-8 year-olds were asked the question, "What does love mean?" As usual with children, the answers often offer wisdom. Bobby – age 7 – said this, “Love is what's in the room with you at Christmas if you stop opening presents and listen.”

Wow, this was part of my devotion this week. It really struck something in me. It seems Christmas creeps up on me every year and I seem to try to keep up with all the activities. With all my events, parties and charity work nothing matters more to me than loving my family.

So, as you head out today to do your last minute Christmas shopping here are some tips to make it easier.
1. Always make it personal and think of something they would not normally buy.
2. Make a budget and stay on it!
3. Keep it simple, quality vs. quantity.
4. Shop local to support your community.
5. Wrap it pretty! They will be so excited to open it.

The best gift you could ever give is your undivided attention. Be in the moment when you are with your friends and family, you just might learn something new.

This Christmas, as 7-year-old Bobby said love is in the room. Take time to push aside the hustle and bustle of the season to listen closely. For the greatest gift was given in Bethlehem. “I bring you good news that will bring great joy to all people. The Savior – yes, the Messiah, the Lord – has been born today in Bethlehem, the city of David!” (Luke 2:10-12)

Merry Christmas,

How NOT To Look Old

Women are always asking me how to look younger and I am going to be really honest today and talk to you about how NOT to look old. These are things I continually see women do and it instantly makes them look older they they are! We need to face reality, we are in a image driven society. You may be looking for a job, going through a divorce, recovering from illness, or a stay at home mom. The fact is you want to look and FEEL your best.

So, How NOT To Look Old...

1. Skip the Dark Lip Liner or Lipstick- Never a good look to see a dark lip liner or lipstick very aging-instead go for light glossy pink. Try my new FAV color "Socialite" by WB Cosmetics

2. Over Plucked Eyebrows-Instantly makes you look older and over arching is scary -solution is fuller natural looking arch not too dark.

3. Get Bangs- Yes, hides those forehead wrinkles and even get soft hi-lights, it is a "soft focus" for your face.

4. Dark Makeup- Avoid matte face, heavy concealer/foundation,thick eyeliner-instead try lighter dewey finish foundation, less powder and curl lashes on top and top off with mascara (an instant eye opener!)

5. Buy a BODY Shaper- No more muffin tops! Can transform your outfit from lumpy to FABULOUS. Are available at Target to Nordstroms depending on budget.

6. Lift Your Boobs- There I said it, I see this daily saggy boobs covering way to much torso. Get a bra fitting and lift those girls! You WILL look thinner and clothes will fit better.

7. Throw Away Mom Jeans- Trade in for DARK denim with a slight flare at bottom, not too low.

8. Yellow Teeth-Gives away your age instantly, invest in good whitening treatment. I love Crest Whitestrips!

9. Thongs- No more granny panties!

10. Nails- Long nails are dated! Choose dark trendy color for toes and light sheer color for hands.

I promise if you implement some or all of these things you will look and feel younger PLUS get tons of great feedback.

Fall back in LOVE with you!

Hi friends!

By now your kids are back to school and you are back to homework, packing lunches, and running to sporting events. I have to admit I was excited to get back to a routine and doing more of what I love (helping woman with style and makeup). You're probably like me and forget about all those little things that give you joy. For me, it could be as simple as a good cup of coffee, laugh with a great friend, or new pair of trendy earrings. As we head into fall we need to fall back in LOVE with who we are. We are just who God created us to be, no more no less. What we choose to do with our creation is another story. How we present ourself to the world says volumes to what we think about on the inside. Good news! We can change our outward appearance and sometime even get a boost from inside out.

You matter! You are worth adorning and endowed with beauty by your creator. Let's get started on YOUR journey to be your very best.

Here are my favorite Fall Beauty Trends to try:
1. RED LIPS-classic and chic, for a softer look try gloss
2. DEFINED BROWS- still in and elongate ends for that "Supermodel Look"
3. ROSY CHEEKS- love this look, looks best on matte face and higher on cheekbones
4. DARK EYES- only for the trendy but try with blues, browns, and black shadow
5. MESSY BUNS- already wearing this trend, just tease first and put in loose ponytail

Have fun and take a risk! Be blessed and beautiful,

Your Story...

I just returned from an amazing adventure with God at the She Speaks conference in NC. I was not sure why I was there or what I was going to get out of it. You see everyone is looking for that "sweet spot", that is were your greatest joy crosses need of others. I am grateful to have found that in what I do. But, it hasn't always been easy. For years I suppressed my need for creativity and my love for fashion and makeup. I just felt it was all about vanity and surely could not be used by God. Boy was I wrong! He continues to give us the desires of our heart and he knew mine. After many years, depression, bad outfits, bad hair, and raising my boys (& husband!) I have grown into my sweet spot. In spite of all the pain and distress that beauty has caused us women, we still desire it!

I just finished a book called Captivating and was blown away by the truth about beauty that leaped from the pages. John and Staci Eldridge say in their book; "We desire to possess a beauty that is worth pursuing, worth fighting for, a beauty that is core to who we truly are. We want a beauty that can be seen; beauty that can be felt; beauty that affects others; a beauty all our own to unveil. As I still unpack all that God has taught me this past weekend I only know that whatever my story is I always want it to lead others to HIS story. So for now I am back to laundry, bickering boys, what to cook for dinner, and self doubt but each day adds another page to my story.

Happy summer everyone! If you are anything like me, you are enjoying the lazy mornings, warm days, and late nights. I have many memories growing up of summer such as hot dogs, hamburgers, baked beans, watermelon and of course SMORES!

Summer heat can be brutal on our skin. I often get the question, "How do I keep my makeup looking fresh in the heat?" It is simple, ditch heavy makeup products and go for a simple beauty routine. Heavy makeup always makes you look older especially in warmer weather.

Here are a few tips to lighten up on your makeup routine;

1. Skip foundation-try tinted moisturizer and go for an oil-free version. Better yet, set with an oil-free powder.

2. Add bronzer- Fake it to you make it! Apply to apples of cheeks, nose, forehead with a large brush.

3. Go for a natural eye- brush your lids with a bronze color then line with waterproof eyeliner just on top to define eyes.

4. Have fun with gloss- toss the dark lipsticks for now, and add a sheer pop of color like watermelon!

5. PRIME it- use a primer for staying power under all your makeup, a makeup artist secret we can't live without!

Don't forget about skincare...switch to lighter moisturizer, exfoliate, and mask.

Whatever your summer pleasure is make it special and beautiful -like you!
